TANKERS A quiet day in all areas. In the Med., the 80,000 tons of cargoes out of Black Sea are fixed around W/S 150, while the normal cross trips at W/S 135. Vitol for 80,000 tons of cargo loading May 30 Syria discharging US Gulf has fixed M/T «Shakalin Island» at W/S 160. Suezmaxes in the same area are fixed at W/S 130 out of Novo and at W/S 125 for the other voyages. Stable rates in the Cont., too. BP for 80,000 tons of cargo loading end May discharging UKC has fixed Navion tonnage at W/S 145, while CSSA for same cargo loading May 24 with same destination has fixed M/T «Evita» at W/S 140. In Caribs, Valero for 70,000 tons of cargo loading May 23 discharging US Gulf has fixed M/T «Genmar Gabriel» at W/S 192.5. In W. Africa, Vitol for 130,000 tons of cargo loading May 30 discharging UKC has fixed M/T «Four Sun» at W/S 137.5. In Arabian Gulf, Chevtex has fixed M/T «Australis» for 280,000 tons of cargo loading June 9 discharging US Gulf – USAC at W/S 90 – W/S 100 respectively. DRY CARGO Market has been very active in the past couple of days on Capers. Several ships were fixed but rates generally remain weak. Round voyages in the area are fixed around USD 40,000 daily. M/V «Iron Queen» 161,183 dwt, built 1996, delivery end May Taiwan trip via Australia redelivery Japan has fixed at USD 42,500 daily, while Daeyang has fixed M/V «Cape Oceania» 149,416 dwt, built 1993, delivery 1-3 June S. Korea for Australian round voyage at USD 34,000 daily. In the Atlantic rates are fairly steady, although the front haul run is nearer to USD 62,000 daily rather than USD 70,000 as previously. Transfield has fixed M/V «Formosabulk Brave» 170,085 dwt, built 2001, delivery May 25-26 Rotterdam trip via Brazil redelivery China at USD 66,000 daily, while Lalemant has fixed M/V «Lowlands Sunrise» 175,600 dwt, built 2003, delivery Passero May 18-22 trip via Canada redelivery Japan at USD 52,000 daily. On Panamax, in Far East Kline has fixed M/V «Salvatore Cafiero» 75,668 dwt, built 2001, delivery Taiwan May 18-20 trip via Australia redelivery Japan at USD 30,500 daily. In Atlantic, Coeclerici has fixed M/V «Torm Anholt» 74,000 dwt, built 2004, delivery US Gulf May 19-24 redelivery Far East at USD 35,000 daily and 550,000 ballast bonus. On coal cargoes, Swiss Marine has fixed M/V «Saldanha» for 160,000 tons of cargo loading S. Africa June 4-14 discharging Rotterdam at USD 13.40 per ton with 2 days load and 25,000 tons discharge.
