TANKERS Market at steady levels, with the Med., due to delays in Bosporus strait, ready to move to higher levels. – On latest fixtures, ENI, for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 29 S. Africa, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Hellas Warrior» at W/S 375, while Conoco, for same cargo, loading Nov. 4 Libya with same destination, has fixed M/T «Alfa Italia» at W/S 390. – On Suezmaxes in the same area, Chevtex has fixed M/T «Besiktas,» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 2 Black Sea, discharging UKC-Med., at W/S 310, while Repsol, for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 6 Algeria, discharging Spain, has fixed M/T «Seavoyager» at W/S 325. – In the N. Sea, ExxonMobil, for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading end-Oct. N. Sea, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Front Glory» at W/S 285. – Caribs on Aframax remains strong, with Valero having fixed M/T «Kazan,» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 23, discharging US Gulf-Atlantic, at W/S 450 – W/S 430 respectively, while Conoco, for same cargo, loading Oct. 26, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Olympic Spirit» at W/S 450. – W. Africa market on Suezmaxes appears quieter, with rates around W/S 280. – Chevtex, for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 8, discharging US Gulf-UKC, has fixed M/T «Potomac» at W/S 280 – W/S 285, while CSSA, for same cargo, loading Nov. 5, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «North Star» at W/S 280. – In Arabian Gulf and on VLCCs, Hyundai, for 250,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 22, discharging S. Korea, has fixed M/T «Island Accord» at W/S 202.5. DRY CARGO Although Atlantic market on Capers has started this week slowly, there are reports now that stronger rates have succeeded. – On short T/C periods, M/V «CIC Pride,» 171,870 dwt, built 2002, delivery end-Oct. Spain, for 4-6 months’ trading, was fixed at USD 80,00 daily. – On Panamaxes, rates have started moving up significantly, especially for the trips with destination East. Charterers seeing market moving are trying once more to commit vessels on period. – In the East, rates also beginning to strengthen, with owners negotiating at about USD 39,000 daily for NOPAC rounds. – Kline has fixed M/V «Guinomar Baraka,» 74,107 dwt, built 2001, delivery Oct. 20-22 China, redelivery Japan, at USD 36,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Cobelfret has fixed M/V «Anastasia,» 65,015 dwt, built 1981, delivery Oct. 18-22 Spain, trip via Kamsar, at USD 28,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Noble has fixed M/V «Gladiator 1,» 24,712 dwt, built 1980, delivery Nigeria end-Oct., trip via East Coast S. America, redelivery Med., at USD 14,750 daily.
