TANKERS Another quiet day in the Med., with Aframax rates dropping to W/S 320-330. The presence of vessels in prompt position and the absence of ex-Black Sea cargoes may lead to a further decline. – Suezmax rates also are weakening due to tonnage building up. – In the N. Sea, 80,000-ton cargoes are being fixed at less than W/S 300, while Caribs are at around W/S 400 for the 70,000-ton cargo liftings but with no activity due to Thanksgiving. – W. Africa rates steady at around W/S 360-370, with Cont. rates to follow this particular market. – In the Med., Sibneft for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading December 13 Black Sea, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Sea Scout» at W/S 380. – On Suezmaxes, Clearlake for 140,000 tons of cargo, loading December 17, discharging UKC-Med., has fixed M/T «Sea Prince» at W/S 366. – In the Cont., Valero for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 12, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «SKS Tweed» at W/S 370. – In W. Africa, Sun has fixed M/T «Genmar Orion» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 20, discharging USAC at W/S 370. – In Arabian Gulf, Stasco has fixed M/T «Iran Damavand» for 280,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 17, discharging UKC, at W/S 230. DRY CARGO Capesize market with no signs of slowing, quite the contrary, with Atlantic round-trip voyages being fixed at around USD 95,000 daily, while those with destination Far East are at above USD 105,000 daily. – Transfield has fixed M/V «Lowlands Glory,» 173,044 dwt, built 2002, delivery beg.-December Passero, trip via Brazil, redelivery Far East, at USD 107,500 daily. – In the East, Glory Wealth has fixed M/V «Channel Alliance,» 171,978 dwt, built 1998, delivery China for an Australian round-trip voyage, at USD 95,000 daily. – On Panamaxes in Far East, Swiss Marine has fixed M/V «Clipper Surrey,» 73,798 dwt, built 1998, delivery China end-November for two legs, at USD 48,000 daily. – In Atlantic, bulk trading with delivery December 1-3 France, trip via Baltimore, redelivery Morocco, has fixed M/V «Great Bless,« 73,251 dwt, built 1997, at USD 46,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Fayette has fixed M/V «Tomahawk,» 45,423 dwt, built 1997, delivery Turkey end-November trip via Black Sea, redelivery Far East, at USD 33,000 daily.
