TANKERS Steady conditions in the Med., mainly due to increasing delays in the Bosporous strait. The 80,000-ton cargoes out of the Black Sea are fixed at W/S 200, while the normal round-trip voyages in the area are fixed at W/S 160. – Steady rates in the Cont. too, with the 80,000-ton cargo liftings having been fixed at W/S 167.5, while the 100,000-ton cargoes out of Murmansk are fixed at W/S 200. – In Caribs, Petrobras has fixed M/T «Falster Spirit» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading January 22, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 350, while Exxonmobil has fixed M/T «Prospect,» loading January 16 East Coast Mexico, with same destination, at W/S 302.5. – The Suezmax market is still weak in all areas. – In the Med., Exxonmobil has fixed M/T «Besiktas» for 130,00 tons of cargo, loading January 23 Sidi Kerir, discharging UKC, at W/S 145, while same charterers have fixed M/T «Yannis P» for same voyage at W/S 155. – In the Med., BP for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading January 23 Egypt, discharging Italy, has fixed M/T «A. Italia» at W/S 165. – In the Cont., Petrogal for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading January 21 UK, discharging Portugal, has fixed M/T «Cape Akrotiri» at W/S 150. – In West Africa, Repsol for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading January 17, discharging Uruguay, has fixed M/T «Genmar Spyridon» at W/S 185, while on VLCCs, Conoco has fixed M/T «Stena Victory» for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading February 5, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 105. DRY CARGO Capesize rates are easing in the East in the short term while the Atlantic market appears steadier, with a number of transatlantic cargoes. – Uming has fixed M/V «Katerina V,» 171,061 dwt, built 2004, delivery China January 18-20, trip via Roberts Bank, redelivery Korea, at USD 75,000 daily. – The Panamax market is steady, with period demand driving the East market. Spot rates are generally steady. – SSE has fixed M/V «Seamaid,» 74,461 dwt, built 1999, delivery Thailand mid-January, trip via Indonesia, redelivery UKC, at USD 36,500 daily. – In the Atlantic, Ugland has fixed M/V «Silver One,» 72,900 dwt, built 2000, dellivery Germany January 23-25, for 5-7 months’ trading at USD 43,500 daily. – On smaller sizes, Nyk has fixed M/V «Minoan Pride,» 45,863 dwt, built 1994, delivery mid-January China, redelivery Japan, at USD 28,500 daily. – On coal cargoes, EDF has fixed M/V «Alpha Harmony» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Richards Bay January 10-15, discharging Sete, at USD 28.00 per ton with 1-day load and 25,000 tons discharge.
