Labor unionists stick a poster outside the Economy and Finance Ministry yesterday, dubbing it the ‘Ministry of Unemployment, Costliness and Poverty.’ A delegation handed a petition to Minister Giorgos Alogoskoufis, protesting recent indirect tax hikes. Alogoskoufis said the measures were the least unpleasant that the government could have opted for, and that it will continue seeking consensus to deal with major issues such as social insurance. He said he will shortly ask the Economic and Social Committee to coordinate talks on the issue.
