Shipping Report

TANKERS Increased inquiry in the Mediterranean with more Aframax cargoes, mainly out of Black Sea. Rates are hovering at around W/S 160. – More active in the Cont. market too, with a number of charterers moving for their first deqate cross-UK requirements. Baltic also has more cargoes with the 100,000-ton cargoes at W/S 140. – Caribs is stable, with the 70,000-ton cargo liftings having been fixed at W/S 155-160. – Suezmax out of West Africa is stable, with the vessel positions reasonably spread through to end-May. – VLCCs out of the same area at W/S 92.5-95 with destination US Gulf. – Mediterranean stable at W/S 135. – In the Mediterranean and on Aframax, Erg for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading end-April Libya, discharging Mediterranean, has fixed Tankpac tonnage at W/S 130. – In the Cont., Shell for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading May 1 Ventspills, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Bravery» at W/S 137.5. – In Caribs, Premcor has fixed M/T «Phoenix Alpha» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading May 3 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 150. – In West Africa, Repsol for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading May 22, discharging Spain, has fixed M/T «African Spirit» at W/S 142.5. DRY CARGO Quieter conditions on Capers and Panamaxes in both areas. – On Capers, Transfield has fixed M/V «AlinaII,» 179,802 dwt, built 1986, delivery Philippines April 25-26, trip via Brazil, redelivery China, at USD 50,000 daily. – In the Atlantic, Kleimar has fixed M/V «Ina,» 176,423 dwt, built 2003, delivery UKC May 14-15, for 3-5 months’ trading at USD 75,000 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Swiss Marine has fixed M/V «Tian Hua Feng,» 74,000 dwt, built 2001, delivery Muscat May 1-5, trip via South Africa, redelivery Morocco, at USD 28,000 daily. – In the Atlantic, Oldendorff has fixed M/V «Imperial,» 68,676 dwt, built 1989, delivery Spain April 27-28, trip via Romania, redelivery Passero, at USD 35,500 daily. – On smaller sizes, Bunge Rome has fixed M/V «Patent,» 31,818 dwt, built 2004, delivery US Gulf end April, redelivery Morocco, at USD 32,000 daily.
