TANKERS Med. market continues to be active, with latest fixtures at W/S 185 for the 80,000 tons of cargoes out of Black Sea and about W/S 180 for cross-trips in the area. – N. Sea remains quiet, with few big changes. Baltic levels are strongly established for the 100,000 tons of cargoes at W/S 130. – Caribs are quiet due to holiday in the States as well. The latest fixtures for the 70,000 tons cargo liftings at W/S 175. – W. Africa rates on Suezmaxes are weaker due to less activity. The 130,000 tons of cargoes with destination USAC at W/S 120, while VLCCs out of the same area have moved up to W/S 82.5 with destination US Gulf. – Suezmax in the Med. shows little activity, but this is expected to improve due to the increased levels on Aframaxes. – In the Arabian Gulf, rates for d/h moving up to W/S 130 due to limited supply. – VLCCs show more activity, with cargoes out of Arabian Gulf at W/S 72.5-75 with destination East and W/S 80 with destination Red Sea. – In the Med. and on Aframax, Equistar for 80,000 tons of cargo loading July 3 Algeria discharging US Gulf has fixed M/T Victoria Spirit at W/S 180. – In the Cont., Clearlake has fixed M/T Delta Sailor for 100,000 tons of cargo loading July 14 Baltic discharging UKC at W/S 130. – In Caribs, PDVSA for 130,000 tons of cargo loading July 8 Venezuela discharging UKC has fixed M/T Cap. Leon at W/S 82.5. – In W. Africa, Sun has fixed M/T Energy Sprinter for 130,000 tons of cargo loading July 30 discharging USAC at W/S 119.5. DRY CARGO A quiet start of the week, with very little fixing for Capers in all areas. Market anticipates that we might see a slight rise on freights for end July loadings. – In Far East, Swiss Marine has fixed M/V Goodwill 149,401 dwt, built 1992, delivery S. Korea July 14 trip via W. Coast Canada redelivery Turkey at USD 17,000 daily. – On coal cargoes and in the traditional route Richards Bay – Rotterdam, M/V Kassos for 160,000 tons of cargo was paid at USD 10.50 per ton, while Cosbulk has fixed M/V Iron Baron for 150,000 tons of cargo loading mid-July at USD 10,85 per ton. – On Panamaxes in Far East, BHP Billiton has fixed M/V Nordmoritz 72,610 dwt, built 1995, delivery beg. July trip via Australia redelivery China at USD 12,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Jebsens has fixed M/V Tianjin Power 75,744 dwt, built 2005, delivery France beg. July and for 3-5 months trading at USD 24,250 daily. – On smaller sizes, WBC has fixed M/V Dimitris Manios 37,664 dwt, built 1983, delivery Turkey July 11-14 redelivery US Gulf at USD 12,250 daily.
