TANKERS Market appears to be stable, partly as a result of the ballasters from Cont., as well as of the low Suezmax rates in the area. The 80,000 tons of cargoes are fixed at W/S 180-185, depending on dates and loading area. – Cont. remains weak, with latest fixtures for the cross-80,000 tons of cargoes at W/S 117.5 while the 100,000 tons of cargoes out of Baltic are still fixed at W/S 130. – Caribs is steady, with the 70,000 tons cargo liftings at W/S 170-175. – Suezmax market remains weak, with ample tonnage for W. Africa loading area. Rates have dropped from W/S 120 to W/S 115 and expected to weaken further. – Med. also has the same picture, with the latest fixtures little above W/S 100. – VLCCs out of W. Africa are still fixed at W/S 82.5 with US Gulf destination. – On VLCCs in Arabian Gulf, Exxonmobil has fixed M/T Taizan for 265,000 tons of cargo loading July 27 discharging Japan at W/S 79. – In the Med. and on Aframax, Ergo for 80,000 tons of cargo loading July 24 Libya discharging Med. has fixed M/T Hellas Warrior at W/S 180. – In the Cont., Dow for 80,000 tons of cargo loading July 14 and for a round voyage has fixed M/T Overseas Cathy at W/S 120. DRY CARGO Capers more active in both Atlantic and Pacific areas. – In the East, BHP Billiton has fixed M/V Rubin Grace 166,939 dwt, built 1995, without any further information, while the same charterers have fixed M/V Anangel Eternity 171,000 dwt, built 1999, at USD 22,500 daily. – The top of the market is the 5 lme type fixtures by Cargill in Far East. M/V CIC Horizon 70,000 dwt, built 1994, delivery China mid-July and, for three to five months, trading was fixed at USD 16,500 daily, as well M/V Cmb Eline 74,000 dwt, built 2004, delivery Muscat trip via East Coast S. America redelivery Singapore-Japan was fixed at USD 18,000 daily. – In the Atlantic, Sinochart has fixed M/V Yasa Emirhan 52,402 dwt, built 2001, delivery US Gulf July 15-20, redelivery UKC at USD 26,250 daily. – On smaller sizes, Volcano has fixed M/V Jin Da 39,630 dwt, built 1986, delivery US Gulf 18-20, July redelivery Med. at USD 20,000 daily.
