The Bulgarian and Greek transport ministers…
The Bulgarian and Greek transport ministers, Petar Mutafchiev (right) and Michalis Liapis, respectively, yesterday discussed in Sofia plans for the modernization of rail links between the two countries as part of the pan-European network. The plans include shortening the travel time between Thessaloniki and the Bulgarian capital to 3.5 hours by 2111 from 6 today. The key to the improvement will be the installation of upgraded satellite and mobile telecommunication facilities, as well as the use of portable computers by OTE Telecom and its mobile phone subsidiary Cosmote, which will allow for on-board customs checks.
