OPAP to run Stoichima alone from next year

Gaming group OPAP said yesterday in a stock market filing it would take over the operation of its flagship sports betting game Stoichima early next year. Gaming systems operator Intralot currently manages Stoichima and receives a commission of around 10 percent of the game’s total sales. Its contract expires in January 2007. Last month, OPAP finalized the details of a tender seeking an international consultant to help it manage the Stoichima game for an 18-month transitional period in a bid to reduce costs. But OPAP has now said it would make an announcement on the best possible way to take Stoichima in-house. Stoichima allows gamblers to bet only on foreign football and basketball games and tennis matches. (Reuters)
