Shoppers look into a shop window…

Shoppers look into a shop window on Ermou Street in central Athens during yesterday’s opening of winter sales. Traders said consumers who were out in force yesterday seemed particularly interested in buying expensive clothing. The General Secretariat for Consumer Protection is urging shoppers to make sure that discounted goods bear clear displays of both the old and the new prices. It also says sale signs should show the discounts offered for specific categories of goods, which must all bear the initial prices. To report unfair pricing or questionable sales, call 1520, or 210.1520 if outside the Athens area.
