TANKERS A quiet start to the week with the market trying to adjust to the impact and the results of Iraq’s statements about cutting supplies of oil for 30 days. – VLCCs still at low levels with the latest fixtures out of the Arabian Gulf less than W/S 30. Stasco for 260,000 tons of cargo loading April 29, discharging USG-East, has fixed M/T «Welsh Venture» at W/S 28.5. – Aframax in the Med. at steady levels with modern at W/S 120-125. – Cont. quiet and at W/S 105-107.5, while Caribs are a bit busier with the 70,000-ton cargo liftings being fixed at W/S 112.5-117.5. Premcor loading April 14 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Shetland Spirit» at W/S 120. – W. Africa on Suezmax quieter with activity being handed to VLCCs. – In the Med., Europet for 80,000 tons of cargo loading April 14 Russia, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Crude Ocean» at W/S 125. – In the Continent, Stasco for 80,000 tons of cargo loading April 15 Denmark, discharging Sweden, has fixed M/T «Hanne Knutsen» at W/S 95. – In Caribs, Equiva has fixed AET tonnage for 70,000 tons of cargo loading April 8 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 120. DRY CARGO Caper market period of inquiry and fixing continues. Coeclerici and rivals are still looking for modern tonnage. Coeclerici, however, has fixed M/V «Ingenious» 170,201 dwt, built 1999, delivery end Oct. for 2 years at USD. 15,750 daily and USD. 16,750 daily for option. – Weaker conditions on Panamax in the East, while Atlantic remains steady due to the interest for short T/C periods. – Navios has fixed M/V «Myrto» 74,000 dwt, built 2001, delivery April 9-12 Germany for 4-6 months period at USD 9,000 daily. – Handymaxes are prospering in Black Sea as well as in the Continent. Freight rates on latest fixtures are around or above USD 10,000 daily. – On Handies, Cont. remains quieter with charterers talking around USD 5,500 for trips to W. Africa. – On Panamax in Far East, PCL has fixed M/V «Kookaburra» 75,607 dwt, built 2000, delivery end April Indonesia trip via S. Africa redelivery UKC/Med. at USD. 5,500 daily. – In Atlantic, Fayette has fixed M/V «Sanko Supreme» 56,550 dwt, built 1990, delivery April 10-17 Koper trip via Black Sea, redelivery Far East, at USD 11,000 daily.
