About 9,000 street market vendors in Athens and Thessaloniki will have to upgrade the appearance of their stalls over the next few months, the Development Ministry said yesterday, presenting the new specifications. Deputy Development Minister Yiannis Papathanassiou also said weighing stations have started being installed in 48 street markets for consumers who may suspect they have had a raw deal. Street vendors’ associations said there were more urgent measures needed than the replacement of stalls.
