TANKERS Cont. market remains tight for April tonnage. On the surface, it appears quiet with few charterers trying to secure tonnage for end of the month loadings. Vitol has fixed M/T «Braveheart» for 80,000 tons of cargo loading end April UK, discharging UKC, at W/S 125. – Med. with no more than 2 cargoes, with rates at W/S 127.5 out of Black Sea. M/T «Niriis» and M/T «Minerva Emma» were paid W/S 127.5 from Karran and Chevtex, respectively. – Suezmax quieter with Sun out of W. Africa and Emerald out of N. Sea having fixed M/T «Nandu» and M/T «Tromso Fidelity» at W/S 76 and W/S 72.5 respectively with destination USAC. – In the Med., KPC for 80,000 tons of cargo loading Libya mid-April, discharging Italy, has fixed M/T «Orkney Spirit» at W/S 122.5. – In the Cont., Veba for 84,000 tons of cargo loading April 22-24 Norway, discharging Rotterdam, has fixed Navion tonnage at W/S 127.5. – In Caribs, Emerald for 70,000 tons of cargo loading April 18, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Mersey Spirit» at W/S 130. DRY CARGO The market focus is still in the N. Atlantic. The S. American market remains on a disappointing course. Grain trading is very limited, with the Argentine government about to double the export tax from 10 percent to 20 percent as of next Monday. – The lakes market remains quiet with operators booking everything they can get in the area. – On Capers, Korea Line has fixed M/V «Sea Azalea» 171,199 dwt, built 1999, delivery end April Japan trip via W. Australia, redelivery UKC / Med., at USD 12,550 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Coeclerici has fixed M/V «Altair» 74,652 dwt, built 2001, delivery Singapore end April for 2-3 legs at USD 8,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Baumarine has fixed M/V «Myrto» 74,470 dwt, built 2001, delivery mid-April Germany for 4-6 months period at USD 9,750 daily. – On smaller sizes, EMR has fixed M/V «Agapi» 34,291 dwt, built 1978, delivery UK April 17-22, redelivery East Coast India, at USD 7,000 daily.
