TANKERS Firmer rates on the Cont. with latest modern Aframax fixed at W/S 150 while Med. seems quieter with less inquiry. – Caribs also at improved levels with the 70,000 tons of cargo liftings fixed at W/S 145. – W. Africa very much on VlCCS side with CSSA, Trafigura and Arcadia having fixed at W/S 40 with US Gulf destination. – On the Cont., Irving and Emerald have fixed for 130,000 tons at W/S 80 and W/S 72.5 for Canada and USAC respectively. – In the Med., Valero for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading April 17 Algeria, discharging Canada, has fixed M/T “Crude Ocean” at W/S 125. – On the Cont., Ttmi for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading April 27 UK, discharging UKC / Med., has fixed M/T «Nord Stealth» at W/S 145. – In Caribs, Valero has fixed M/T «Golden Destiny» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading April 25 Colombia, discharging UKC / Med. at W/S 132.5. DRY CARGO On Capers, the weak conditions persist. – Panamaxes continue their advance in the Atlantic, remaining the firmer market. S. America also, with more inquiry for early May positions and beyond. There is talk that Korean charterers are considering USD 10,000 daily plus 27-280,000 ballast bonus for their delivery Recalada trip East requirements. – Far East weak with World Link having fixed M/V «Tenacity,» 63,940 dwt, built 1984, delivery Australia May 1-10, redelivery China at USD 5,600 daily, and USD 115,000 ballast bonus. – On Panamax in Far East, Transfield has fixed M/V «Haydar,» 65,337 dwt, built 1981, delivery Australia end-April-beg. May, redelivery Far East at USD 5,500 daily, and USD 105,000 ballast bonus. – In Atlantic, Cargill has fixed M/V “Matheos, ” 76,300 dwt, built 2001, delivery Brazil end-April-beg. May, redelivery UKC / Med. at USD 9,500 daily, and USD 225,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, Jebsen has fixed M/V «Piyi D,» 28,102 dwt, built 1982, delivery S. Africa end-April, redelivery UKC at USD 6,000 daily.
