Stocks end flat; Lambrakis extends gains

Equities ended flat yesterday as mild telecom gains offset softer banks while Greece’s largest publisher Lambrakis Press outperformed, jumping 2.99 percent to 3.44 euros. Lambrakis has gained 4.8 percent after announcing better-than-expected first-quarter results earlier this week. The Athens benchmark general index ended at 2,218.37 points, ending the week off six points. The Athens Stock and Derivatives exchanges will reopen on Wednesday, May 8 following the Easter break. The FTSE-20 index of blue chips retreated 0.24 percent to 1,158.93 points. The FTSE/ASE-40 index of mid-caps added 0.44 percent and small-caps firmed 0.35 percent. Telecom stocks gained 0.20 percent and banks shed 0.25 percent. Turnover was 66.14 million euros on volume of 11.3 million shares. Winners beat losers 164 to 134 with 50 unchanged on 349 traded.
