Intralot’s Turk deal aids stock

Greek lottery systems supplier Intralot said yesterday it has signed a deal to extend the operation of the Iddaa Turkish sports betting game for up to a year. Intralot’s Turkish subsidiary Inteltek signed the contract with Turkish state organization Spor Toto to continue operating its 4,000 point-of-sale network in the neighboring country, it said. The company did not provide any financial details. Incentive «The year 2008 is expected to be a milestone for the game known as Iddaa,» said Intralot Chief Executive Officer Constantinos Antonopoulos in a statement. «The presence of the Turkish national team in the Euro 2008 (soccer championships) will stimulate the interest of the Turkish players and further boost the sales of the game.» As a result of a recent law passed in Turkey, a 10-year tender agreement for the operation of sports betting will be procured this year, Intralot added. Intralot’s shares closed up by 1.47 percent at 12.40 euros on the Athens bourse, outperforming the general index which ended down by 1.79 percent.
