OLP, J&P gain on good news

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark index rose 24.1 points, or 0.6 percent, to 4,177.18 yesterday, erasing Monday’s decline. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index added 0.6 percent to 2,227.45 points. Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) jumped 14 percent to 26.92 euros, the biggest advance since August 2003. Cosco Pacific Ltd submitted the highest bid to take over container operations at Piraeus port for 35 years. Athens Water Supply & Sewage Co climbed 72 cents, or 6.6 percent, to 11.70 euros, its highest since January. J&P Avax rose 3.7 percent to 5.04 euros after signing a 207-million-euro contract to build a highway junction in Poland. Turnover totaled 258.7 million euros. (Bloomberg, Kathimerini.)
