Stocks drop for eighth session
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark index fell for an eighth trading day yesterday, losing 36.58, or 1 percent, to 3,662.42 points. The FTSE/ATHEX 20 index of the country’s biggest companies declined 1.1 percent to 1,961.96 points. OTE telecom rose 1.6 percent to -16.74, the steepest gain in two weeks. Motor Oil lost 60 cents, or 4.4 percent, to -13.10, the lowest since March 28. National P&K Securities cut its share-price forecast for Greece’s second-biggest refiner to -17 from -18. OPAP gained 36 cents, or 1.6 percent, to -23.10, its biggest increase in more than two weeks. Europe’s biggest publicly traded gaming company today announced a reorganization plan to improve efficiency. Turnover reached 273.9 million euros. (Bloomberg, Kathimerini)
