Stocks keep on heading lower

Despite a positive start to the day, Greek stocks ended up closing lower for the 10th day in a row yesterday. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index declined by 0.84 percent to 3,619.11 points. Its total loss of the last 10 sessions comes to 12.22 percent. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index contracted by 0.80 percent to 1,932.98 points. National Bank closed below the 30-euro mark, at 29.84 euros, its lowest in the last 22 months. The Hellenic Technodomiki construction group told shareholders yesterday it expects net profit this year to drop to about 100 million euros, from 130 million in 2007. It closed at 8.22 euros, 1.91 percent lower than on Thursday. Turnover reached 329.1 million euros.
