Boost for Chinese ties
Greek President Karolos Papoulias alongside Chinese President Hu Jintao in Beijing yesterday. Papoulias joins the growing list of Greek officials to visit the Asian country recently as ties between the two nations strengthen. Sources said that talks between Papoulias and senior Chinese officials revolved mainly around broadening economic ties. Greek shipping companies, which have placed a large number of orders for new vessels with Chinese shipyards, have played a leading role in bringing the countries closer together. Papoulias is expected to visit Shanghai tomorrow.
