Bourse sheds 5.4 pct in week
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark general index fell for a second day yesterday, losing 59.82 points, or 1.7 percent, to 3,424.16 points. The gauge declined 5.4 percent this week, the fourth straight drop. The FTSE/ATHEX 20 index of the country’s biggest companies slipped 1.7 percent to 1,837.84 points. Bank of Cyprus declined for a second day, losing 16 cents, or 2 percent, to 8 euros. The largest lender on the eastern Mediterranean island will pay $576 million to acquire 80 percent of Russia’s Uniastrum Bank, and tap retail lending growth in the country.
