Athens index ends with gains
The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index ended a dismal month on a positive note yesterday, reversing mid-session losses on the back of gains in financials and the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (CCHBC). The general index rose 0.45 percent to 3,439.71 points. According to figures provided by analysts, the Athens Exchange shed 17.64 percent in June, bringing its losses for the first half of the year to 33.58 percent. Banks yesterday added 0.70 percent. Alpha Bank, Greece’s third-largest lender, rose 2.35 percent to 19.20 euros. Shares in CCHBC, the world’s second-largest bottler of Coke products, added 2.49 percent to 17.30 euros. Turnover for the session reached 282 million euros.
