Sea with latest fixtures on Aframax at W/S 130, rates are expected to dive due to limited inquiry. – Med. also on a downward path with ample supply of tonnage for end-May loadings. – Caribs still at W/S 125 for the 70,000-ton cargo liftings, while Panamaxes at W/S 170 for the 50,000 tons of cargoes. – Suezmaxes at mid-60s in W. Africa for West destination, while Med. gives signs of weakening. – In the Med., Tupras for 80,000 tons of cargo loading June 2 Syria, discharging Turkey, has fixed M/T «Black Sea» at W/S 132.5. – In the Cont., Waterways for 80,000 tons of cargo loading May 31 Baltic, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Genmar Sun» at W/S 115. – In Caribs, Chevtex for 70,000 tons of cargo loading May 28 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Mersey Spirit» at W/S 125. – In W. Africa, Addax for 130,000 tons of cargo loading June 11, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Arteaga» at W/S 62.5. DRY CARGO Activity in the Caper market remains low despite the numerous Richards Bay / Cont. coal fixtures. – Panamaxes in the East with a mixed picture. There is a number of high and low fixtures as well as back hauls. T/C short periods are still paying a premium. Cosco for 4-6 months trading has fixed M/V «Alpha Melody» 74,000 dwt, at USD 8,250 daily. – In the Atlantic, levels are holding Et Internet for 54,000 tons of grain, loading June 1-15 US Gulf discharging Japan, has fixed M/V «Bestore» at USD 21.20 per ton with 11 days all purposes. – Handymax in the Atlantic still enjoy high freight levels. M/V «Explorer II» 44,900 dwt, built 1983, for a West Coast S. American round voyage has fixed at USD 8,300 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Shinwa has fixed M/V «Medi Rotterdam» 75,500 dwt, built 2002, delivery May 27-30 Japan for 3-5 months period at USD 8,400 daily. – In the Atlantic, BHP Billiton has fixed M/V «Angelic Spirit» 65,000 dwt, built 1984, delivery end May Argentine redelivery UKC / Med. at USD 6,500 daily. – On smaller sizes, IVS has fixed M/V «Conqueror» 38,584 dwt, built 1985, delivery S. Africa end-May redelivery UKC at USD 7,200 daily. – On grain cargoes, Et Internet for 54,000 tons of cargo loading US Gulf June 1-15, discharging Japan, has fixed M/V «Bestore» at USD 21.20 per ton with 11 days all purposes.
