Athens bourse falls 1.8 percent

The Athens bourse fell 1.8 percent yesterday to 3,285.59 points, in line with retreating European markets. Greek stocks trimmed mid-session losses after the benchmark general index dipped by as much as 3.16 percent. Among the biggest losers was Marfin Investment Group (MIG), which dropped 4.90 percent to 4.66 euros, and National Bank, which ended the session at 27.60 euros, off 2.16 percent. Betting company OPAP gave up 0.89 percent to 22.40 euros and the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, the world’s second-largest bottler of Coke products, slipped 1.30 percent to 16.70 euros. Losers beat winners 47 to 180, with 47 shares unchanged. Turnover reached 210 million euros versus 139 million in the previous session.
