Folias keeps close eye on power grid

Development Minister Christos Folias (center) met with officials yesterday of the Hellenic Transmission System Operator (HTSO). The country’s power grid stood up to the test of warmer temperatures yesterday as there were no reports of electricity blackouts despite an increase in demand stretching the system to its limits. Folias said that he expects a recent electricity exchange agreement signed with Turkey to come into effect at the start of next week. Greece will be able to import 200 megawatts of electricity from its neighbor during the summer months over a two-year period.
