Index partially recovers losses
The Greek bourse’s index showed some resistance at the 3,100-point level and recovered most of the losses it had incurred during the first half of the session yesterday. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 3,155.11 points, 0.72 percent lower than on Tuesday, although its losses had reached 2.43 percent during the day. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dropped by 0.51 percent to 1,699.67 points. Most blue chips moved southward, led by Coca-Cola HBC (down 3.44 percent), Alpha Bank (2.18 percent), Hellenic Petroleum (1.94 percent) and ATEbank (1.93 percent). The greatest gains were for Titan (up 4.14 percent), Marfin Investment Group (1.76 percent) and Mytilineos (1.35 percent), on a rather good day for construction and materials companies – their sectoral index rose by 1.52 percent. Turnover reached 239.9 million euros.
