Cruise ships reluctant to visit Greece
Cruise ships such as the Queen Victoria are reluctant to include Greece in their schedules due to the lack of the appropriate institutional framework as a host state and the poor provision of services to cruise companies and their vessels, a recent Hellenic Association of Tourism and Travel Association (HATTA) conference heard. Data on cruise ship operations in Europe are showing a healthy rise, set to last at least until 2010, but it appears Greece is being left behind. One direct consequence of this is the loss of revenues that could easily have come Greece’s way, given the country’s geographical position and many attractions.
