Moderate rise after late sales

Some sales late in yesterday’s session on the Greek bourse reduced the rate of growth stocks were bracing for most of the day, although the positive sentiment has not been lost. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) closed at 3,396.63 points yesterday, a 0.79 percent rise from Tuesday. The index had risen as high as 3,450 points mid-session, however. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index grew by 0.72 percent to 1,872.60 points. Mid-caps enjoyed a stronger 1.31 percent daily rise. ATEbank led blue chips with 3.98 percent growth, followed by Viohalco (up 3.53 percent), Hellenic Technodomiki TEV (3.40 percent), Intralot (3.23 percent) and Hellenic Postbank (2.96 percent). The biggest losses were for the stocks of Alpha Bank (down 1.27 percent) and Coca-Cola HBC (1.17 percent). Turnover reached a more respectable 231.9 million euros.
