Positive start to week for stocks

Greek stocks got off to a positive start to the week yesterday, adding 1.73 percent. Analysts described the upward movement as being a technical rebound after recent selling pressure had pushed stocks to oversold levels. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark general index ended the session at 3,355.05 points. Banks added 1.95 percent, led by solid gains in National Bank, Bank of Cyprus and Alpha Bank. OTE telecom, which had fallen to a 44-month low last week, rebounded yesterday, jumping 2.56 percent to 13.60 euros. Winners beat losers 133 to 68 with 65 shares unchanged. Turnover for the session reached 132.7 million euros versus 140 million euros on Friday.
