Stocks retreat; OTE bucks trend

Greek stocks slipped 0.86 percent, weighed down by European bourses that were showing losses in excess of 2 percent late yesterday. The Athens Exchange’s (ATHEX) benchmark general index ended the session at 3,326.11 points, after trading in a range of between 3,303 to 3,355 points. OTE telecom, scheduled to report second-quarter earnings next week, was among the few shares that bucked the downward trend, gaining 2.94 percent to 14 euros. Jewelry retailer Folli-Follie took heavy losses, slumping 3.54 percent to 15.80 euros. Losers beat winners 141 to 65 with 60 stocks remaining unchanged. Turnover reached 151.6 million euros versus 132 million euros previously.
