Preparing for the 2009 season

Tourism Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos told journalists yesterday that the number of tourist arrivals in Greece in July was unchanged, while ‘income from tourism rose about 8.5 percent.’ ‘All of this shows that Greek tourism can manage and come out a winner from the negative international climate.’ Spiliotopoulos added that the Tourism Ministry has started planning for the 2009 season in order to be ready for a likely dip in visitors from traditional markets while also working on promoting tourism services to new countries.
