CCHBC’s losses weigh on bourse

The drop of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company stock by almost 20 percent weighed heavily on the rest of the stock market yesterday and dragged most of the bourse’s indices lower. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 2,828.88 points, contracting by 0.29 percent from Wednesday’s closing figure of 2,837.17 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index rose by 0.92 percent to end at 1,574.83 points, but the small-cap and mid-cap indices posted losses. Banks and gaming companies did well yesterday. Intralot gained 4.75 percent, Alpha Bank rose 4.58 percent, OPAP grew 2.93 percent and Bank of Cyprus advanced by 2.86 percent. Apart from Coca-Cola HBC (down 19.02 percent), the biggest losers were Hellaktor (8 percent), Hellenic Postbank (2.99 percent) and Marfin Investment Group (2.85 percent). Turnover came to 261.2 million euros.
