A sting in the session’s tail

Sellers resurfaced toward the end of yesterday’s session on the Greek bourse, reversing the gains registered by the majority of indices during most of the day. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 2,503.01 points yesterday, down by 0.36 percent on Wednesday. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dropped by 0.12 percent to end at 1,382.78 points. Outperforming the other blue chips were the stocks of Public Power Corporation (up 2.84 percent), Marfin Investment Bank (2.71 percent), EFG Eurobank (2.55 percent) and Bank of Cyprus (2.45 percent). Heading southward were the stocks of OTE telecom (down 5.91 percent), Viohalco (3.43 percent), Hellenic Petroleum (2.45 percent) and Hellenic Postbank (2.39 percent). Turnover came to 241.6 million euros.
