Aktor gets on short lists for two projects
Local construction firms are placing an increasing emphasis on projects outside Greece, as the short-listing of Aktor in two foreign tenders shows. The Hellaktor subsidiary forms part of a consortium that has just entered the final phase of the tender for a road project in Montenegro, budgeted at 2 billion euros. Rival bidders include Alpine and Bouygues. Aktor is also among the five companies short-listed for the construction of a 32-kilometer stretch along the Trakia highway in Bulgaria, budgeted at 173 million euros. Despite the global credit crisis, major domestic firms are seeking to increase activities abroad and are after projects with guaranteed funding. The local market has grown quiet, and even projects such as the Attiki Odos extensions have been put off to next year.
