New mall added to retail landscape

The Olympia Mall in Trikala, central Greece, will open its doors to the public on Thursday as a growing number of shopping centers pop up across the country’s retail landscape. Greek consumers have been switching from smaller neighborhood shops to large indoor shopping centers that offer a broad range of services, including cinemas and restaurants. Greek consumers’ changing shopping habits have drawn strong interest from foreign retailers which have been expanding into Greece recently. The Olympia Mall will cover 18,000 square meters of indoor space and is designed to accommodate more than 130 stores. The mall is expected to draw some 1.5 million visitors each year.
