Spiliotopoulos calls for joint tourism effort
The growth of Greek tourism is the responsibility of all, said Tourism Development Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos (left) yesterday, addressing the press and information bureaus of Greek embassies abroad. He also proposed some joint initiatives with the General Secretariat for the Press so as to promote Greece’s tourism product more effectively in other countries. For next year, the Greek National Tourism Organization is planning to participate in 123 exhibitions in 41 countries and to embark on several innovative activities such as outdoor tourism shows, in addition to opening up to new markets such as Romania, India, Serbia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. The new GNTO Internet site will also start operating from 2009.
