Bourse’s weekly loss at 9 percent

The Athens bourse ended 0.54 percent higher yesterday, thanks to selective buying in blue chip stocks. The Athens Exchange’s benchmark general index closed at 1,826.41 points, ending the week with overall losses of 9 percent. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index added 0.52 percent, while the FTSE/ATHEX 40 index of mid-caps retreated 0.72 percent. National Bank outperformed, gaining 3.22 percent to 13.46 euros. Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling, the world’s second-largest bottler of Coke products, jumped 5.64 percent to 11.62 euros. Analysts said that investors will be keeping an eye out for third-quarter figures from blue chips next week, as the reporting season winds up at the end of the month. Turnover reached 158.6 million euros versus 170 million euros on the previous session.
