Turnover and key index rise

Heading in the opposite direction from their upward trajectory on Wednesday, most Greek stocks registered losses yesterday but the bourse’s main index registered a small rise at the end of the session, reversing earlier losses. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,840.88 points yesterday, gaining 0.36 percent on Wednesday’s closure. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index grew by 0.30 percent to end at 951.25 points. OPAP outperformed among blue chips with 5.26 percent growth, ahead of National Bank (up 3.46 percent), Hellaktor (2.87 percent) and Public Power Corporation (1.04 percent). The greatest losses were for Piraeus Bank (4.72 percent), Marfin Investment Group (4.04 percent), Alpha Bank (3.49 percent), Mytilineos (3 percent) and Bank of Cyprus (2.10 percent). Turnover came to 175.6 million euros.
