Greek stocks inch higher
The Athens bourse broke a three-day losing streak yesterday, gaining 0.29 percent in a mixed session. The benchmark general index, which has lost 41 percent over the last three months, ended at 1,746.58 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index added 0.77 percent, while the mid-cap FTSE/ATHEX 40 index lost 0.78 percent. Pharmaceutical company Alapis jumped 16.6 percent to 0.70 euros after tumbling by 23 percent on Tuesday. Property developer Babis Vovos advanced 7 percent after sustaining heavy losses earlier this week on news that one of its major projects, in Votanikos, has run up against legal hitches. Turnover reached 155.6 million euros versus 214.3 million euros in the previous session.
