Stocks rise 7 pct for the week
The Athens bourse gained 2.78 percent yesterday, ending its best weekly performance since the end of October last year. The Athens Exchange’s benchmark general index closed at 1,779.47 points, racking up gains of almost 7 percent for the week. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index jumped 3.32 percent to 919.70 points. Eurobank advanced 6.49 percent to 4.92 euros, while Alpha Bank added 6.13 percent to 6.58 euros. Real estate developer Babis Vovos also outperformed, soaring 14.22 percent to 5.30 euros. The small-cap FTSE/ATHEX 80 index underperformed, adding 1.41 percent. Turnover reached 123.4 million euros versus 116 million euros previously. The Cypriot general index added 1 percent to 968.93 points.
