MONDAY «Facing the Economic Crisis in the EU and Greece» is the title of a round-table discussion held by the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and the Foundation of Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE). Speakers include Professor Jean Pisani-Ferry, director of the Bruegel think tank in Brussels. At the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (6th floor, 7-9 Academias) at 6.30 p.m. TUESDAY The Greek Safer Internet awareness campaign and the Athens bureau of the European Commission’s Safer Internet Day are holding the event «Safer Internet Day 2009.» At the Press Center of the General Secretariat of Communication and Information (11 Frangoudi and Alexandrou Pantou, Kallithea) at noon. WEDNESDAY PricewaterhouseCoopers Academy is holding an open day for high school, technical college and university graduates as well as parents and teachers, on the topic of postgraduate studies and specialization at the PwC Academy (42 Zalokosta, Halandri, opposite the Hygeia Hospital) from 6 to 8.30 p.m. Christian Gudehus, scientific director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Memory Research, is to give a lecture on the European debate on World War II and the Holocaust. At the Goethe Institute (66 Vassilissis Olgas, Thessaloniki) at 8.30 p.m. (In German with simultaneous interpretation into Greek.) The Hellenic Automobile Club (ELPA) and its National Racing Committee are to award cups won in auto-moto-cart races in 2008. At the Transport Ministry amphitheater (2 Anapafseos and Tsigante, Papagou) at 6 p.m. THURSDAY The Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and the German Embassy in Athens are holding an open discussion on «European Security in a Global Environment.» The political director of the German Foreign Ministry, Volker Stanzel, will be the keynote speaker. At the offices of the European Parliament in Greece (8 Amalias, Athens) at 6 p.m. A seminar on the operation of the information exchange forum REACH is being held by the Hellenic Association of Chemical Industries.
