Shares slip after mixed session

The Athens bourse ended in negative territory yesterday, against a backdrop of mixed European markets, as blue chips outweighed slight gains in mid-caps. The Athens Exchange’s (ATHEX) benchmark general index eased 0.08 percent to 1,727.98 points, closing just off the session low. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index declined by 0.36 percent to close at 873.97 points. Eurobank, which has fallen in four of the last five sessions, continued its slide. Its shares lost 0.42 percent yesterday to 4.78 euros, bringing its market capitalization to 2.5 billion euros. Gaming company OPAP lost 2.69 percent to 20.24 euros. Public Power Corporation (PPC) added 0.77 percent to 13.10 euros. Turnover reached 93.6 million euros versus 105.4 million in the previous session.
