Caution is the word for Athens bourse

Investors on the Athens bourse are likely to start the week on a cautious note after the benchmark general index retreated almost 2 percent in the last five sessions. The Athens Exchange’s (ATHEX) benchmark general index eased 0.08 percent on Friday to 1,727.98 points, closing just off the session low. The index gave up 1.91 percent last week, bringing its losses for the year to 3.28 percent. Investors will be keeping an eye out for final quarter results expected from Coca Cola Hellenic Bottling, the world’s second largest bottler of Coke products, tomorrow. According to a Reuters poll, the company is expected to report a 21.8 percent rise in fourth-quarter net profit to 45.7 million euros as cost cuts more than offset lower soft drink demand. Further data about the state of the Greek economy are expected in a Bank of Greece report expected to be released today.
