OTE drop leads market lower
The Athens bourse fell more than 2 percent yesterday, as OTE telecom led a slide in blue chip stocks. The Athens Exchange’s benchmark general index lost 2.10 percent, ending at 1,691.63 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index declined by 2.14 percent to close at 855.28 points. Among the biggest losers was OTE, which fell 4.75 percent to 10.84 euros. Also among the losers was Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling, which ended the day at 11.06 euros, off 2.98 percent. The company, the world’s second-largest bottler of Coke products, is due to announce fourth-quarter earnings today, before the start of trade.
