Greece and USA agree on energy diversification

Development Minister Costis Hatzidakis (right) and US Ambassador in Athens Daniel Speckhard agreed yesterday to enhance their cooperation in renewable energy sources, a sector in which the new US administration is attaching particular importance. ‘We agreed to extend our cooperation in this sector and in this context Mr Speckhard gave me an invitation to visit the US, and particularly Colorado where there is a center dedicated to renewable energy sources,’ said Hatzidakis after yesterday’s meeting. ‘We also discussed diversification in the energy sector and our cooperation on this issue, to ensure that the essential energy requirements of our economies are met and full employment and future prospects in the sector are safeguarded,’ Speckhard said.
