Albanian mall draws interest

More than 30 Greek companies have shown interest in renting space in Albania’s largest shopping mall, eyeing the neighboring market as consumer demand slumps at home. Colliers International, the leasing agent for the City Park mall in Tirana, yesterday described interest from Greek companies as being «strong.» «We are very happy with the interest shown up to now in City Park,» Dimitris Voutsas, Colliers International director of retail, said in a statement. About half of the 34 companies that expressed interest are expected to eventually sign lease deals. They come from different fields, including the world of fashion and the food business. The City Park shopping mall, which is scheduled to open this coming November, will be the country’s largest, covering 60,000 square meters, according to Colliers. It will also offer a 6,000-square-meter children’s play area, car dealerships and a conference center.
