Gasoline prices soar on national roads over Easter

Fuel market profiteers enjoyed a particularly good week over Easter, according to Development Ministry inspectors. Gasoline stations, particularly on the national roads, added several cents to the average price of unleaded gas, which sold for 0.919 euros per liter. Prices even changed between the morning and the evening on Good Friday, targeting those drivers who chose to travel at night in order to avoid the traffic. At those stations the price reached as high as 1.29 euros per liter, according to ministry inspectors. However, the head of the Gasoline Station Owners’ Federation, Michalis Kiousis, told Kathimerini that such instances were just isolated cases rather than the rule.
