Stocks rise for third session

Greek stocks got the week off to a positive start yesterday, adding more than 2 percent in the third consecutive session of gains. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index advanced 2.08 percent to 2,096.41 points, ending just below a session high of 2,101 points. Banks outperformed, jumping 4.79 percent, bringing gains in the last three sessions to 17 percent. Alpha Bank led the way, soaring 7.38 percent to 8 euros while Eurobank rose 6 percent to 6.36 euros. On the downside, Marfin Investment Group slipped 2.14 percent to 3.20 euros while Public Power Corporation (PPC) eased 1.02 percent to 14.52 euros. Turnover reached 190.7 million euros.
