ATEbank leads stock rebound
A positive feeling returned to the local bourse yesterday as stocks posted fresh gains after Thursday’s significant correction. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index rebounded to 2,280.15 points yesterday, growing by 1.29 percent from Thursday’s close. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded by 1.31 percent to close at 1,186.16 points. ATEbank, which announced yesterday that its 675-million-euro share capital increase had been successfully completed, led blue chips with gains of 11.95 percent. It was followed by Hellenic Postbank (up 6.43 percent), Viohalco (4.55 percent) and Intralot (4.54 percent). On the losing side were Bank of Cyprus (down 2.43 percent) and OTE telecom (1.06 percent). Turnover reached 301 million euros.
